On Thursday afternoon at 17:00, the kermesse of Campania wines Campania Stories took off with its eighth edition.
The meeting with the national and international press took place at the picturesque Villa Rufolo, in the town of Ravello.
The meeting marked the starting point of an initiative that aims to highlight the regional wine heritage, involving a prestigious audience of industry operators and communicators. Drengot participated enthusiastically in the opening meeting of the event.
The event will end on Monday, April 1, with a wine tasting where all the several wineries that participate in the project play an important role.
The Campania Stories project aims to create and consolidate a permanent space for information, promotion and in-depth study of the world of Campania wine, showing the most authentic side of wine production in this region.
The project collects the stories of many native grape varieties of Campania, including that of Drengot and the heroic harvest of Asprinio.
During the opening meeting of the event, Roberto Di Meo, President of the Campania Section of Assoenologi, presented the data of the 2018 vintage.
This vintage was characterized by very complicated climatic conditions, a clear sign of a tropicalization of the climate. A mild winter in the first months of the year and extreme heat peaks alternating with heavy rainfall in summer created very high humidity conditions, inevitably influencing the production trend of the grapes from Campania.
In terms of quantity, there was a yeld increase compared to the previous year and, in particular, the white grapes showed good health conditions, with larger berries and a thinner skin thickness, as well as higher percentages of acidity. In short, a great vintage that rewarded white wines.
Drengot is one of the companies that will attend the tasting promoted by Campania Stories. Alberto Verde, founder of Drengot, said he was enthusiastic to take part in a path that can give international resonance to wines with an enormous expressive potential which, however, are often forgotten.
With its centuries-old history and its heroic cultivation method, Asprinio itself is one of the native vines that best represents the complexity and strength of the Campania region. The cultivation of this kind of vine is only possible thanks to the tenacity and passion of the vine growers who, against any market logic, allow us to re-propose even today the history and authenticity of real and products and craftsmanship.
The meeting with the press has shown once again the great interest of the operators in the sector towards the Aversa tree trellises and Drengot, which is working to revalue and bring to light this unique method of cultivation in the world.
Handicraft production, the core of the company’s business, leads to a rediscovery of the beauty and richness of what is “different” as a strong point of the Italian wine-growing heritage.
On Monday 1st April there will be a meeting with the industry operators at Hotel Cetus a Cetara. Campania Stories, in fact, will give the opportunity to taste the wines offered by the participating wineries. There are three time slots available: from 10:00 to 12:00, from 15:00 to 17:00 and from 18:00 to 20:00
It will be possible to taste Drengot wines in the first time slot. Stay tuned and get updates of the event on social media using the #campaniastories and #iobevocampano hashtags.
